African Network for Disaster Risk Reduction & Sustainable Development (ANDRR) is a registered non-profit, non-governmental, non-partisan, non-ethnic and non-religious organization established to facilitate the attainment of social freedom, Human Rights, good governance and sustainable grassroots development in Nigeria.
We target hard-to-reach communities and vulnerable groups with special attention to education, agriculture, energy, housing, environment, public finance and socio-economic rights. We help both communities and government see the different sides of key development efforts.

We respect the poor, marginalized and vulnerable groups to build confidence and mutual trust. We protect them by looking at policy implications and help raise their voices.

Before any capacity building, we first acknowledge existing capacity in the community — their organizations, progress and previous methods — drawing from them to develop new approaches.

Citizenship Engagement & Social Accountability
We develop approaches building accountability through civic engagement, where ordinary citizens and civil society organizations participate directly or indirectly in exacting accountability.
Young People's Development & Community Empowerment
Promoting skills acquisition and eliminating poverty and unemployment among youths. We partner with stakeholders to advocate for sustainable young people's development.
Sustainable Energy Reforms Advocacy
Targeted programs on sustainable energy through data collection and analysis. We advocate against key issues encumbering energy sector reform in Nigeria.
Citizen Security & Campaign Against Armed Violence
Training citizens and security outfits on Human Rights standards. We also conduct campaigns against small arms and light weapons fuelling armed violence.
Human Rights & Access to Justice
Comprehensive Human Rights training for community members, youths and vulnerable people. We document cases of Human Rights abuse and partner national coalitions.
Gender Equity & Social Inclusion
Addressing how gender interacts with development — advocating for equal rights, combatting discriminatory practices, and ensuring diversity and inclusiveness.
Disaster Risk Reduction & Emergency Response
Rapid emergency response, disaster loss assessment and long-term recovery planning for communities affected by conflict and natural disasters.
Public Financial Management
Tracking and monitoring public financial systems, advocating for transparency and accountability in government financial management.

Non-Agricultural Livelihood Training for Women
Training on non-agricultural livelihood activities (tailoring, local cap making, food processing). Women constituted a minimum of 60% of beneficiaries.
Adolescent Girls' Initiative for Learning & Empowerment (AGILE)
Communications campaigns, advocacy with traditional rulers, life skills training focused on conflict resolution, GBV awareness, health, and climate change.
Women, Peace and Security Agenda — North-East Nigeria
Public awareness on State Action Plan, training for conflict-affected women and former women combatants to enhance entrepreneurial capacity.
Enugu State Emergency Contingency & Response Plan 2018-2021
Multi-stakeholder inception workshop, training 45+ participants, drafting the state emergency management plan for stakeholder review.
Nigeria Partnership for Education (NIPEP) Project
Capacity building of government M&E structures, training 100+ M&E officers across Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina and Jigawa States.
Disaster Loss Assessment — Adamawa State
Multi-discipline, multi-sectoral assessment of disaster loss in education, health, infrastructure and livelihoods across 11 local government areas.
Review & Updating of National Contingency Plan
Review of existing Multi-Sectorial Contingency Plan, updating the National EPR Plan with multiple scenarios.
UNICEF Programme M&E — UNDAF Nigeria
Technical assistance for planning and establishing M&E objectives, capacity building of State Ministries and reporting to the National Bureau of Statistics.
